After watching some videos on the old internet, how customizeable webpages used to be, and how the world has lost so much individuality, I did some self-reflection and thought about how I have also lost myself. As a kid, I enjoyed numerous things - horoscopes, visual novels, and Quotev quizzes to name a few. While my hobbies revolved around the internet, I actually had hobbies. I played a lot of games and read a lot of stories.
As I'm writing this, I don't have a lot of things I enjoy anymore. It's something I realized a couple years ago but could never seem to fix. I barely play and truly enjoy games. I stop watching a show in the middle of an episode and move to a different series only to drop it for another, and the cycle repeats. I feel it's because the internet isn't the same as it used to be. Now, algorithms, AI, and endless scrolling rule the digital world, and because of that, I have lost what I enjoyed so much about this virtual space. So, I want to reclaim the internet I love and who I was before the shift.
